MINUTES OF THE FIJI-NEW ZEALAND BUSINESS COUNCIL MEETING HELD ON WEDNESDAY 14th JULY, 2004 AT 8.30AM, FTIB BOARDROOM

Chairman welcomed and thanked members present.


 

Minutes were confirmed by Warwick Downing and unanimously accepted by members


 

NZAID Grant Allocation – Committee were informed that funds have yet to be received, H.E Adrian Simcock mentioend he would look into this matter.


June accounts were circulated to members, there were no comments raised with regard to the accounts.


 

  • Committee were informed that 23 members of the New Zealand Trade Delegation are confirmed to attend the Joint Conference; this brings the total number of delegates registered to 85;
  • Advertisements: 2 advertisements were going to be published in the dailies, advertisements were kindly sponsored by the NZ Trade & Enterprise;
  • Speakers: Chairman informed members that he had received some positive feedback from the speakers. Committee were informed of the following:

    1. Mr Hank Arts of Image Labels agreed to make a 10 minute presentation as a recipient of the NZAID Grant scheme;

    2. Lailun Khan has agreed to make a presentation on Foreign Investment in the country and the recent amendments to the Foreign Investment Act;

    3. Justin King has since agreed to be the Master of Ceremonies;

It was also agreed that the following members convey a vote of thanks and present speakers with a gift after each presentation:

  • Barrie Sweetman to thank Hon. Tomasi Vuetilovoni - Minister for Commerce, Business Development & Investment
  • Mike Walsh to be approached to thank Hon. Jim Sutton – New Zealand Minister for Trade Negotiations;
  • Bevin Severinsen to thank Mr Mark Solomon – Ngai Tahu Trust;
  • Cecil Browne to thank Mr Roger Poulton – Air New Zealand;
  • Digby Bossley to be approached to thank Hon. Kaliopate Tavola -Minister for Foreign Affairs
  • Lisa Apted to thank Mrs Lailun Khan – FTIB;
  • Kevin Farrington to be approached to thank Mr Radike Qereqeretabua- Shangri la Fijian Resort;
  • ANZ offered to provide writing pads to be included in the conference packs
